Salvation has its price...
After a long and heartbreaking journey to Siberia, Dimitri's birthplace, Rose Hathaway has finally returned to St. Vladimir's - and to her best friend, Lissa Dragomir. It's graduation, and the girls can't wait for their real lives outside the Academy's cold iron gates to finally begin. But even with the intrigue and excitement of court life looming, Rose's heart still aches for Dimitri. He's out there, somewhere.
She failed to kill him when she had the chance, and now her worst fears are about to come true. Dimitri has tasted her blood, and she knows in her heart that he is hunting her. And if Rose won't join him, he won't rest until he has silenced her... forever.
But Rose can't forget what she learned on her journey - whispers of a magic too impossible and terrifying to comprehend. A magic inextricably tied to Lissa that could hold the answer to all of Rose's prayers, but not without devastating consequences. Now Rose will have to decide what - and who - matters most to her. And in the end, is true love really worth the price?
Fall in love with Rose and Dimitri all over again in Spirit Bound, the eagerly awaited fifth novel in Richelle Mead's enthralling Vampire Academy series.

My Review:
It’s graduation day, but Rose has other things on her mind. What with the weekly love/death threat letters Dimitri sends her( Rose calls him her “undead stalker”), the possibility Strigoi can be saved, and how to get Victor Dashkov cooperation, Rose has already a plan in mind. A plan that involves escaping with Lissa again, breaking into a maximum security prison, and all to save the man she loves. Seems like poor Adrian wrote that love proposal and quit his bad habits for nothing. It only took 5 seconds of Dimitri and all her promises to Adrian flew out the window. But even after the big rescue Rose still can’t have her happy ending. Machinations at court have Rose and the others outraged, but only Rose gives voice to everybody’s thoughts.

Meanwhile, Dimitri is filled with the horror and guilt of the things he’s done, and his heart can’t love anymore (or so he says). Rose tries over and over again, and their encounters are just heartbreaking, making her think there can really be nothing again between them.
Just as she’s given up (and given in to Adrian) and is about to go on her merry way… a murder occurs at court! And she is the main suspect! (Total brain melt when this happens). With Rose behind bars, it’s up to her family and friends to sort the whole mess. And they better do it soon because the sentence for murder isn’t prison…its death.
Last Sacrifice
Murder. Love. Jealousy. And the ultimate sacrifice.
Rose Hathaway has always played by her own rules. She broke the law when she ran away from St. Vladimir’s Academy with her best friend and last surviving Dragomir Princess, Lissa. She broke the law when she fell in love with her gorgeous, off-limits instructor, Dimitri. And she dared to defy Queen Tatiana, leader of the Moroi world, risking her life and reputation to protect generations of dhampir guardian to come.
Now the law has finally caught up with Rose - for a crime she didn’t even commit. She’s in prison for the highest offense imaginable: the assassination of a monarch. She’ll need help from both Dimitri and Adrian to find the one living person who can stall her execution and force the Moroi elite to acknowledge a shocking new candidate for the royal throne: Vasilisa Dragomir.
But the clock on Rose’s life is running out. Rose knows in her heart the world of the dead wants her back… and this time she is truly out of second chances. The big question is, when your life is about saving others, who will save you?

My Review:
Rose’s trial is drawing closer each day, and they still haven’t found proof of her innocence. They need more time. What can they do? Bust Rose out of jail and send her into hiding with Dimitri as protection! But Rose doesn’t play ‘damsel in distress’ very well. She hates the inactivity of it all and decides that she might as well be useful and do something simple as finding Eric Dragomir’s illegitimate daughter. Now with a purpose in mind and with the help of some unlikely allies, Rose and Dimitri must race against time to find Lissa’s half brother or sister before the other guardians and the evil side of Spirit catches up with Rose.
In this novel we get to fall in love with Dimitri again. We see him at his weakest, and with Rose’s help he starts to return to his old self. Rose has been so focused on forgetting him and accepting they can’t have anything together, that she doesn’t see the change in Dimitri. His love for her never faded, it was only buried beneath all the guilt. When he confesses this to Rose she is ready to having him back in her arms, but Dimitri tells her he doesn’t want to get between her and Adrian (like always he wants to do the right thing…silly man). But we all know he can’t resist her for long.
The part that got me all teary eyed and stuff, was Adrian. (I guess its spoiler time, but I really want to quote this part!) As I read this last part I felt like I was Rose and every single world was a verbal slap for always cheering for Rose and Dimitri to be reunited. Also, I always imagined Adrian would go ‘quietly’ after he found out about it. But, oh man, was I ever more wrong.
This is Adrian confronting Rose:
“I loved you, and you destroyed me. You took my heart and ripped it up. You might as well have staked me!”
“I. Loved. You. And you used me the whole time.”
Adrian goes on to remind her that he wasn’t the only to come out with a sad ending. He viciously tells Rose that next time when she is in bed with Dimitri, to remember that Jill, Sydney, and Eddie were also collateral damage to her happy ending. The whole part was just heart wrenching, and thank goodness for the sequel to the series.
