My Review:
In this exciting third book Kaylee’s fight against the Netherworld is a little more personal. Nash’s friends are getting high on Demon’s Breath, slowly but surely rotting their souls. Not only that but they could be infecting their girlfriends too, which are Emma and Sophie. They seem to be getting it from a Netherworld dealer who brings the substance inside balloons, a trick they learned from Kaylee. She plans to bring a stop to the whole operation, but dealing with a suddenly pushy and moody Nash is really getting to her. Add to the mix how her powers seem to be going out of control – now she can’t even fall asleep without crossing over – and you’ve got one explosive story in your hands. Kaylee will need the help of some suspicious sources, and Tod, to be able to save the day.

At all times the possibility of things going to hell (literally) keeps you engaged. Kaylee is as fierceless as ever, and even more here where she has to make some really tough decisions. Though there wasn’t much Tod in this book, I couldn’t help but love each of his appearances. Haha the phrase of the day is “Damn it Tod!” There were a lot of laugh-out-loud moments for me, but also many sad ones. Although I never really rooted for him, the end really tore my heart apart into little pieces. I can’t wait to start the next one to see how this all gets fixed or further damaged.

My Review:
It’s a heart wrenching, powerful story about the Hudson brothers, and the tragedy that took Tod away from his family. I’ve only listened to one other audio book, and I have to say I wasn’t thrilled that this was the only option for reading Reaper. But not to worry! I totally loved the narrator’s voice. It was weirdly intimate hearing certain parts narrated right in my ear, but it was fun.

The story is told by Tod, so we get to see how he thinks. Tod is actually the responsible and level headed one (who knew!). He cares a lot for his mom and follows her rules. He cares for Nash too but his brother is a bit of a jerk. He has a girlfriend who is in a correctional facility and wants to break her out. When Tod says he won’t help, he goes out drinking without permission and gets wasted. On the way back they get into a horrible car accident that leaves one of them dead. And that’s when the surprise comes.

[Spoiler Ahead!]

Tod didn’t die, Nash did! Tod gives his life in exchange because he feels guilty because of the last things he said to his brother. That selfless sacrifice is what get him the reaper job. And it’s so sad! He feels so alone and homeless in the afterlife. I almost cried when he revealed himself and his mom wasn’t as enthusiastic. But she was just scared for what the reaper job implies. Another surprise was that he was actually the one to first see Kaylee, not Nash. He finds her at the hospital when she is sent there in the prequel. Oh! And the end. It sent chills through me hearing Tod speak like that. Overall this short story made me love Tod even more.

My Review:
Dealing with the aftermath of everything that happened in My Soul to Keep, Kaylee needs to make a decision concerning Nash. But things get a whole lot complicated when his troublemaker ex-girlfriend shows up. Jealousy is running high, chaos is overcoming the school, and teachers are dropping like flies! To save the day, Kaylee will need to work through her emotions, and get her head on straight. If only she could catch a nap without some hellion showing up!

I knew this book was going to be hard emotionally. Kaylee is very conflicted with her feelings for Nash because he loves him but is unable to forgive him. Nash really needs a friend to help him get over his addiction, but Kaylee is not there for him. This is something I found really crappy of her, even if he did an ever crappier thing before. I’ve never rooted for Nash, but in this book I found myself doing so. I totally hated Sabine. She had to appear at the worst possible moment! Or maybe not…for Nash. He did need a friend, even one who kept trying to jump his bones. Anyways Sabine is a good opponent for Kaylee. She makes Kaylee fight for what she wants, showing some backbone.

Again, Tod is so adorable. He actually listened to Kaylee with the extra job thing! Hmm I think I’ll order some pizza later (lol). I did agree with what he told Kaylee, about either taking Nash back or letting him go completely. It makes sense. No one wants to stand in love limbo. I also think there might be some hidden feelings behind those gorgeous blue eyes of his.

I can’t wait to read If I Die, but darn it! Does anyone know if it’s coming out for the Kindle and when??

Favorite Quotes:
~ Book 3 ~
I ran my hand up the cold leather sleeve of his jacket. “Yeah. My dad’s working late, and I think I might need help with my anatomy.”
Nash’s brows shot up. “You’re not taking anatomy.”
I grinned. “I know.”
~
“Have you and Nash both lost your minds? This is really a very simple concept – one that you taught me! Hellion equals evil. Period!”
~
“We don’t need it, just like we don’t need sleep, but all the same pleasure sensors are still there and functioning. Including taste buds,” he clarified when I grinned with one raised brow.

~Book 3.5~
“No one ever mentioned that death would come in the form of a sucker punching little dwarf.”

~Book 4~
By the time the second semester of my junior year began, I’d already faced down rogue grim reapers, an evil entertainment mogul, and hellions determined to possess my soul. But I never would have guessed that the most infuriating beast of all, I had yet to meet. My boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend was a thing of nightmares. Literally.
~
“There are no coincidences.”
~
“What? No.” I sat on the edge of my desk and pushed tangled hair back from my face, hoping I’d heard him wrong. “I’m not going to tie you up, or down, or any other direction!”
~
“So…what are you delivering today – pizza or death?”
“Both, actually.” … “Pepperoni for you now, and a fatal aneurism to the woman in room 408, in about ten hours.”
