The fates of Cinder and Scarlet collide as a Lunar threat spreads across the Earth...

Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She's trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive.

Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.

Scarlet’s grandma is missing and the police just closed the case for insufficient evidence. But Scarlet has a temper, and she’s not about to give up. Then she stumbles upon Wolf, a street fighter who she soon discovers might be working for the ones who kidnapped her grandma. Scarlet’s not about to let him off the hook that easily, but it’s even more surprised when he agrees to help her. The mysterious Wolf captures her attention, but will she be able to focus on something other than his green eyes?

At the other end of the world, Cinder makes an ally and breaks out of prison. ‘Captain’ Carswell Thorne might be the worst pilot in the world, but he has a ship and the only means of quick escape from the Eastern Commonwealth. As Cinder deals with her newly discovered Lunar powers of manipulation and uncovers more clues to her past, things will be set into motion that can bring about Lunar invasion! Will Cinder arrive on time to stop all this?

In this second installment to the Lunar Chronicles, we have double the main characters which means double the fun and Marissa Meyer certainly delivers!

There are two plot lines running in this novel and the pace is relentless. Little Red Riding Hood has never been more dangerous or the Wolf so sexy! Scarlet and Wolf’s story is a mix of intense and sweet. With her fiery temper and his protective nature, the sexual tension in the room is always set on high. But really what I loved the most is his nervousness. I mean, could Wolf be any more adorably shy? *swoons*

Cinder returns more badass than ever, with a new cyborg hand that has all kinds of wicked gadgets and a hilarious sidekick that keeps things lively. Also, the return of Iko! She gets a new body, and OMG does it have so much win. Cinder’s powers are certainly scary, but I’ve no doubt that once she lets go of the fear she’ll do what’s right. But she better get cracking and go save Kai, because man does he have problems!

Like I said, with two plot lines running the pace is relentless, even more so in the ending chapters. It is just one thing after the other—fights, explosions, death, battles, make out sessions! It’s an all around rush of events that leaves you breathless and wanting for more! I can’t wait for the next book!

Favorite Quotes:

~A captain and his ship~
Cinder’s optimism crumbled. “Tell me you recognize something.”
“Yeah, yeah, I do,” he said, waving her away. “I just haven’t been here in a while.”
“Think faster. We aren’t exactly blending in with our surroundings here.”
With a nod, Thorne started down the street. “This way.”
Five steps later he paused, pondered, turned around. “No, no, this way.”
“We’re dead.”
“No, I’ve got it now. It’s this way.”
“Don’t you have an address?”
“A captain knows where his ship is. It’s like a psychic bond.”
“If only we had a captain here.”

~Wolf~
Her mind emptied of everything but the gusting wind and how fragile Wolf looked in that heartbeat, like one movement could break him open.
“I’m alright,” she reassured him again, wrapping her free arms around his back and pulling him toward her until she could curl up beneath the shelter of his body, burying her head against his neck. She felt his gulp, then his arms went around her, crushing her against his chest.
