Amy says goodbye~

Hi, guys! I'm not sure how many of you still follow, but I'm posting this anyways since I feel Amy's Book Den deserves a proper goodbye post.

We've had a long and fun run since June 2011 when I first discovered the amazing online world of book blogging. It took me a while to figure things out, but soon enough, I had created this little space of book heaven to share with the world. 2012 was all kinds of awesome. I did giveaways, interviewed debut authors like Marissa Meyer, A.C. Gaughen, Robin LaFevers, and Helen Keeble who have produced some of my favorite books and book series, featured my amazing Seton Hill Classmates, participated in book tours and promoted talented self-published authors, and gained a substantial amount of followers (I'm still in awe of the number ♥ ). But as the demands of grad school grew, I had less and less time to read and much less time to review. In 2013, I tried to keep up with the demands of everything, but my frustration grew as the weeks passed. I knew I wasn't giving Amy's Book Den the attention it deserved, but I just didn't have the time or mindset to work with it anymore. I'm very thankful to Mary who came to my rescue and did some reviews to share here with us while I decided on what to do...

And my final decision was to close Amy's Book Den.

It wasn't easy coming to that conclusion, but I've made up my mind and this is why...

After two years and a half of pursuing a MFA degree in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University, I finally graduated this past June 29! *throws confetti* I've grown as a reader, a writer, a bookworm, and a person. I've achieved my goals, but that just means now I have new ones, and unfortunately they do not include keeping up with the daily demands of a book blog. I want to do so many other things--write more novels, explore other genres, read more, pursue publishing, apply for an editing or translating jobs, actually maintain my author blog--and spending hours keeping up with all of this here will not help me achieve any of those.

I am extremely thankful to all the readers and followers of Amy's Book Den, to all the authors who let me feature them and their work here, to Xpresso Book Tours and her extremely well organized tours, and to NetGalley for providing me with delicious ARCs. Amy's Book Den would not have been the same without all of you!

While I will no longer be updating Amy's Book Den, I will keep the facebook page, where I'll continue posting random bookish things occasionally, and my Goodreads account, where I'll keep rating books even if I don't write full reviews for them. You can also check out my Author Blog for random movie reviews and my writer thoughts.

Once again, thank you all so much for this experience!
Goodbye~

Kiersten White
September 9 2014

Jessamin has been an outcast since she moved from her island home of Melei to the dreary country of Albion. But Finn has secrets of his own, dangerous secrets that the vicious Lord Downpike will do anything to possess. Unless Jessamin, armed only with her wits and her determination, can stop him.

Why am I waiting for it?
I haven't read any of Kiersten's new work since Paranormalcy, but I keep adding the books to my TBR list. I don't know. There's something about her stories and the blurbs that calls to me. I definitely need more time to read!

Magic Breaks
(Kate Daniels 7)
Ilona Andrews
July 29 2014

No matter how much the paranormal politics of Atlanta change, one thing always remains the same: if there’s trouble, Kate Daniels will be in the middle of it…

As the mate of the Beast Lord, Curran, former mercenary Kate Daniels has more responsibilities than it seems possible to juggle. Not only is she still struggling to keep her investigative business afloat, she must now deal with the affairs of the pack, including preparing her people for attack from Roland, a cruel ancient being with god-like powers. Since Kate’s connection to Roland has come out into the open, no one is safe—especially those closest to Kate.

As Roland’s long shadow looms ever nearer, Kate is called to attend the Conclave, a gathering of the leaders from the various supernatural factions in Atlanta. When one of the Masters of the Dead is found murdered there, apparently at the hands of a shapeshifter, Kate is given only twenty-four hours to hunt down the killer. And this time, if she fails, she’ll find herself embroiled in a war which could destroy everything she holds dear…
