I'm back!

Hello fellow bloggers and faithful followers. I have been absent from the blogging world for way too long, but it was all for a greater cause. You see, I've spent the last seven days attending the residency part of the MFA in Writing Popular Fiction at Seton Hill University that I'm just now starting. Woot! Those were some extremely busy—and sometimes very tiring—days, but all fun. Lots of new people to meet, lots of information to process, and I was very VERY cold! But that was just me. I live in the Caribbean so anything under 75 degrees is cold for me. lol
My favorite part were the critique group sessions. I'd never done anything like that before. I learned so much not only about critiquing another's work, but also about what works and what doesn’t, how to make things clearer, common mistakes to watch out for, and how to improve my manuscript. I was SO nervous the day my manuscript was set up for critiquing, but it turned out extremely well. Not because it didn't have any errors—believe me, it has a lot—but because the group as a whole went into a serious discussion about it and gave me a gazillion ideas on how to make it better. Best feeling ever to know that what you wrote caught people's attention.
Now that I'm back I will keep up the book blogging business BUT my priority is writing. I have to hand in 30 polished pages of my story every month. Yikes! But after NaNoWriMo I know that with heavy scheduling of my day, and creating smaller deadlines I'll be able to do it. Oh! And I have to do my readings for the online class. It's a YA Lit class so I'll probably review the class books, and save time. Not to worry, I'll still be reviewing books from NetGalley (I recently got Scarlet! Yay!) and new releases when I can.
I'll end this post with a bit of awesomesauce. One of my new year blogging resolutions was to get in the business of interviewing authors…and I did my first interview! So stay tuned for that one ^__^

Review: Delirium by Lauren Oliver

Delirium
Publisher: Harper Collins, 2011
Genre: YA Dystopian Romance
Buy: AmazonB&NTBD

Ninety-five days, and then I'll be safe. I wonder whether the procedure will hurt. I want to get it over with. It's hard to be patient. It's hard not to be afraid while I'm still uncured, though so far the deliria hasn't touched me yet. Still, I worry. They say that in the old days, love drove people to madness. The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and when you don't.

Lauren Oliver astonished readers with her stunning debut, Before I Fall. In a starred review, Publishers Weekly called it "raw, emotional, and, at times, beautiful. An end as brave as it is heartbreaking." Her much-awaited second novel fulfills her promise as an exceptionally talented and versatile writer.
