Musing Mondays (21) &It's Monday! (17)

 Hosted by Should Be Reading.
 This week’s musing is…
~Why do you thing that the Young Adult genre is so popular with even adult readers? Do you read YA books, yourself?~

Most YA books are fairly short compared to adult books, so maybe adults want more quick fun reads. Also, YA can pack a mean punch. What I mean by that is that in that short amount of pages its an emotional roller coaster, full of action, deceit, subplots, etc. Okay, so maybe all books have that, but in my experience it takes more time to build up all that intensity in adult books than in YA.
I love YA because of that intensity. Mainly because of the romance, but I love the action too (like in Dystopias *squee*). While everyone else might hate them, I go ga-ga over love triangles. I live for the thrill of first love with a paranormal creature. Not love at first sight...that actually bothers me. But yeah, I realize I might have made a mess of things trying to explain, but there's just something about YA...a magic ingredient X which I can't pin point but I know it's missing from adult.

PS: Not all adults books are missing it! Nicole Peeler's Jane True series certainly has that magical ingredient!

My readings have almost crawled to a stop in favor of finishing my class readings on time. It's a lot of reading, and the how-to books take a while to get through. But not to worry, I have many cool reviews still waiting to be posted, so I'm good for a few weeks. In which time I hope to read and finish two review requests, and start reading The Hunger Games again. Hurray because its both a class reading, and I was planning on reading the series again to review it. As for future reads, I have no idea what new book I'll end up reading next but I do have my eye on Everneath and Incarnate.

Just Finished Reading:
 Destiny's Fire by Trisha Wolfe
Roderick Blackwood and The Demon Stone by Ralph Rathbone

Currently Reading:

Brightest Kind of Darkness by P.T. Michelle
The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier

Planning To Read:
Making a Scene by Jordan E. Rosenfeld
Dialogue by Gloria Kempton

Genre: YA Paranormal (Time Travel)
Buy: AmazonB&NTBD

One hour to rewrite the past . . .

For seventeen-year-old Emerson Cole, life is about seeing what isn’t there: swooning Southern Belles; soldiers long forgotten; a haunting jazz trio that vanishes in an instant. Plagued by phantoms since her parents’ death, she just wants the apparitions to stop so she can be normal. She’s tried everything, but the visions keep coming back.

So when her well-meaning brother brings in a consultant from a secretive organization called the Hourglass, Emerson’s willing to try one last cure. But meeting Michael Weaver may not only change her future, it may change her past.
Who is this dark, mysterious, sympathetic guy, barely older than Emerson herself, who seems to believe every crazy word she says? Why does an electric charge seem to run through the room whenever he’s around? And why is he so insistent that he needs her help to prevent a death that never should have happened?
