The Harry Potter End

Some time ago a little 300 page book about young wizard hit the shelves of the US bookstores and took the children and their parents along for a magical ride that would last 13 years. With seven books, six and a half movies, and millions of adult and children fans, the magical world of Harry Potter has definitely left its mark on the world.

In the writing industry, it created an increasing demand for more children based stories, and also pushed forward the whole genre of Children and Young Adult (YA) novels. In the film industry, it encouraged the making of more movies based on books like The Chronicles of Narnia, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and How to Train Your Dragon. In our daily lives…well, let’s just say that if we stayed up all night waiting for a mail owl with our acceptance letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, if we dressed in a robe and carried a wand around waving it at random people and yelling Petrificus totalus, if we used muggle and mudblood as an insults, we could all attribute it to Pottermania and not be called mentally unstable. But now…

Whose is the Elder Wand? >:D
Now it all ends with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Sitting at the theater today, I had chills just from the moment the music started. I’m not usually an expressive person, but during the movie I laughed out loud, I cheered, I almost cried, and I cheered some more. It was a real treat going to the opening and experiencing the movie with a full theater room. The following are a few of what I thought were the most memorable moments. Not to worry! I promise I will stick to gushing over the movie and not spoiling it.

Dragons. I once had a school assignment where one had to pick his/her favorite animal and write a one page essay. Of course I picked the dragons, but had to redo my essay since no one said anything about the favorite animal having to be real! Oh well. All I can say is that I’m extremely pleased with how the dragon looked and the whole sequence with it.

The Voldemort Close-ups. Epic. It was a flash back to the days when my friend Ari and I played Resident Evil. There is this one scene where you encounter the first zombie and they do a close up of the thing while it slowly turns and looks at you over its shoulder. Ari and I loved it. We used to imitate the zombie, slowly turning our heads and looking over our shoulders while making our nose flaps twitch up and down. We thought it was hilarious. Seeing Voldemort doing it....it was scary again.

The Snape Memories Montage. It was the most beautiful scene montage I’ve ever seen. And no, I’m not a big Snape lover. But it just captured the essence of his whole issue with Lily. His torment, his pain, his love until the end. The whole sequence left me with a knot in my throat and burning eyes.

Fight Scenes! I’ve never wanted to have magic and a wand so badly. Like seriously. And I didn’t even watch it in 3D or IMAX or some such advance projector thing.

Fred’s, Remus and Tonk’s Death. Losing them all over again made  me want to cry! I just wish they would’ve done a mini-montage of this, because otherwise it they got left a bit on the side lines when they really are important characters.

The End. I won't spoil it. After all this time we have all become part of the Potter family and that is why there is no such thing as an END to Harry Potter. So don’t despair! Call your friends, grab your wands and robes, and go have a magical time watching this movie!  Me? I am 24 years old, a graduate and I will still sit by my window and keep waiting for that owl, now with an invitation letter to teach at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Mischief Managed!
I just had to say it~
