Review: The Demon Trapper's Daughter by Jana Oliver

The Demon Trapper’s Daughter
Author: Jana Oliver
Publisher: Martin’s Griffin, 2010
Genre: YA Paranormal/Urban Fantasy
Buy: AmazonB&NTBD

It’s the year 2018, and with human society seriously disrupted by the economic upheavals of the previous decade, Lucifer has increased the number of demons in all major cities. Atlanta is no exception. Fortunately, humans are protected by Demon Trappers, who work to keep homes and streets safe from the things that go bump in the night. Seventeen-year-old Riley, only daughter of legendary Demon Trapper Paul Blackthorne, has always dreamed of following in her father’s footsteps. When she’s not keeping up with her homework or trying to manage her growing attraction to fellow Trapper apprentice, Simon, Riley’s out saving citizens from Grade One Hellspawn. Business as usual, really, for a demon-trapping teen. When a Grade Five Geo-Fiend crashes Riley’s routine assignment at a library, jeopardizing her life and her chosen livelihood, she realizes that she’s caught in the middle of a battle between Heaven and Hell.

This week question is:
Have you ever wanted a villain to win at the end of a story? If so, which one?

Mostly I'm always on the good guys side, but sometimes I'm not. When this happens is because the 'villain' is just too darn sexy to say no to. Here are some examples:
1. Cam from Lauren Kate's Fallen.

2. Damon Salvatore from L.J. Smith's Vampire Diaries.

3. Eric Northman from Charlaine Harris Sookie Stackhouse Series.

I mean, who wouldn't root for these bad boys? ;)

This Friday's Question:
Books to Television: Which books would you love to see made into a TV series? or movie?

I'd love to see Vampire Academy made into a series! Imagine something like Vampire Diaries but will a whole lot more action and kills. With Rose going around running straight into danger, and Lissa trying to deal with her spirit magic. And of course, lets not forget the gorgeous men! Dimitri with his duster, long hair and Russian accent, Christian with his dark moods and looks, and then bad boy Adrian to liven up the show *swoons* Yes, definitely TV series worthy.

As for a movie, I would kill for Jana Oliver's Demon Trappers books to be made into one. A bankrupt Atlanta city with demons running around, things almost reverting to the old times with carriages and marketplaces, witches and necromancers and demon trappers! Oh but they'd have to make the demons look realistic and scary enough. And find some hunkalicious men to play Beck, Simon and Ori.
