Waiting on Wednesday (72)

Hosted at Breaking the Spine, spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am eagerly waiting for...

Reboot
Amy Tintera
May 7 2013

Five years ago, Wren Connolly was shot three times in the chest. After 178 minutes she came back as a Reboot: stronger, faster, able to heal, and less emotional. The longer Reboots are dead, the less human they are when they return. Wren 178 is the deadliest Reboot in the Republic of Texas. Now seventeen years old, she serves as a soldier for HARC (Human Advancement and Repopulation Corporation).

Wren’s favorite part of the job is training new Reboots, but her latest newbie is the worst she’s ever seen. As a 22, Callum Reyes is practically human. His reflexes are too slow, he’s always asking questions, and his ever-present smile is freaking her out. Yet there’s something about him she can’t ignore. When Callum refuses to follow an order, Wren is given one last chance to get him in line—or she’ll have to eliminate him. Wren has never disobeyed before and knows if she does, she’ll be eliminated, too. But she has also never felt as alive as she does around Callum.

The perfect soldier is done taking orders.

Why am I waiting for it?
The cover is very clinical and ominous looking O_O’ and the blurb sounds like awesomesauce.

Teaser Tuesday (71)

Hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading

Defiance
by C.J. Redwine

~Caution or Not?~
Logan seems to sense my intentions because he slides his hands onto the small of my back, presses gently, and says, “Remember, sometimes diplomacy is the better side of warfare.”

The heat of his hand feels like tiny sparks racing through me. “Diplomacy is a lot easier to accomplish if you’ve got your foe on his knees hoping you don’t lop of his head.”

“Do you really have to go into every situation with nothing but your wits and your knife?” he asks.

“Do you really have to go into every situation with more caution than a grandmother crossing Market Square?”

Musing Mondays (59) & It's Monday! (58)

 Hosted by Should Be Reading.
 This week’s musing is…

Have you ever read a book after watching the movie/television version only to find that you don't like the book as much as the adaptation?

I think that happened to me with The Vampire Diaries. I started watching the TV show and then decided to get the first two books. I didn't like them so much but the rest of the book series is fine. But that's the only case I can think of... Usually I like both the book and the movies, like Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and the latest Twilight movies. Other times I hate the adaptation but love the books like Eragon, The Vampire's Assistant, and Percy Jackson. Now...who's excited for The Mortal Instruments Movie? *raises hand*
