Waiting on Wednesday (74)

Hosted at Breaking the Spine, spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am eagerly waiting for...

Where I Belong
Gwendolyn Heasley
February 8 2013

Meet Corrinne. She's living every girl's dream in New York City--shopping sprees at Barneys, open access to the best clubs and parties, and her own horse at the country club. Her perfect life is perfectly on track. At least it was. . . .

When Corrinne's father is laid off, her world suddenly falls apart. Instead of heading to boarding school, she's stripped of her credit cards and shipped off to the boonies of Texas to live with her grandparents. On her own in a big public school and forced to take a job shoveling manure, Corrinne is determined to get back to the life she's supposed to be living. She doesn't care who she stomps on in the process. But when Corrinne makes an unlikely friend and discovers a total hottie at work, she begins to wonder if her life B.R.--before the recession--was as perfect as it seemed.

Why am I waiting for it?
There’s an evident lack of cowboys in YA!

Teaser Tuesday (73)

Hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading

Scent of Magic
by Maria V. Snyder

~Clarification~
Ursan flourished his knife, threatening me. “Talk, or I’ll start cutting off body parts.”
“Yours? Or mine?” I kept my voice steady despite my insides twisting into goo. “It’s an important distinction.”

Musing Mondays (61)

 Hosted by Should Be Reading.
 This week’s musing is…

~What was the last book you couldn't finish and why?~

There are two. One I started and quit halfway in. That one was Intangible by J. Meyers. I found myself unable to focus on the story or the characters simply because there were too many. I didn't see the point of some of the POV's, why were they relevant and such. I guess with time and patience I could've finished it, the premise of the story was interesting enough and the main characters (the twins) were intriguing and fun. But at the time I just quit halfway.
The second book was Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins I only got about five chapters in and threw it away. In my goodreads review I wrote possible factors that contributed to my not finishing it: Anna's pureness and naivete, casual drug and alcohol abuse, and random demon WTFkery. Don't quite remember the specifics but for me to write that it had to be BAD. I know there was a lot of buzz about the book, and Kaidan the fictional boyfriend, but I just couldn't get through it.
