Follow Friday (14)

Follow Friday is hosted By Parajunkee.com and Alisoncanread.com

This week question is:
What superhero is your alter-ego?

Phoenix
First, Jean Grey is super smart, and super caring of those close to her.  Her powers are unbelievably strong Telepathy and Telekinesis. Those powers are amplified when she becomes Phoenix, a super powerful fiery being. Sometimes presented as White Phoenix (good) and other times as Dark Phoenix (not bad, but very bad), and always with a thing for Wolverine ♥

Review: Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins

Hex Hall
Author: Rachel Hawkins
Publisher: Disney Hyperion, 2010
Genre: YA Paranormal
Buy: AmazonB&NTBD

Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father-an elusive European warlock-only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shapeshifters.

By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tagalong ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire on campus.

Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her only friend is the number-one suspect. As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.

Waiting on Wednesday (15)

Waiting on Wednesday is the weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

I am eagerly waiting for...
Partials
Release Date: February 28 2012

The human race is all but extinct after a war with Partials—engineered organic beings identical to humans—has decimated the population. Reduced to tens of thousands by RM, a weaponized virus to which only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America have huddled together on Long Island while the Partials have mysteriously retreated. The threat of the Partials is still imminent, but worse, no baby has been born immune to RM in more than a decade. Our time is running out.

Kira, a sixteen-year-old medic in training, is on the front lines of this battle, seeing RM ravage the community while mandatory pregnancy laws threaten to launch what’s left of humanity into civil war, and she’s not content to stand by and watch. But as she makes a desperate decision to save the last of her race, she will discover that the survival of humans and Partials alike rests in her attempts to uncover the connections between them—connections that humanity has forgotten, or perhaps never even knew were there.
