Today it's a very special day because not only am I hosting my first ever blog tour, but it's the Daemons in the Mist Blog Tour! When I read Daemons in the Mist I instantly fell in love with the characters, especially the heroes Patrick and Nualla. And guess what? Today I get to interview them! *does happy dance* If you've read it, you know how funny, brave, and adorable Patrick and Nualla can be. For those of you who don't know about Daemons in the Mist, here's an overview.
Daemons in the Mist
(The Marked Ones Trilogy 1)Author: Alicia Kat DillmanPublisher: Korat Publishing, 2012Genre: YA Paranormal Romance
Seventeen year old Patrick Connolly has been hopelessly infatuated with Nualla for years but he is all but invisible to her. Until, that is, he rescues her from a confrontation with her ex. Little does Patrick know he’s just set off a dangerous chain reaction that will thrust him into a world of life altering secrets and things that shouldn’t exist, because the fog and mist of San Francisco is concealing more than just buildings.
Oh! Our guests have arrived! Hello Patrick, and Nualla. Thank you so much for coming by Amy’s Book Den!
Nualla: Hi Amy!
Patrick: I think Beatrice might think she died and went to heaven with all these books around.
Ahhh Yes. Amy's Book Den is a sort of bookish heaven. *sits comfortably* So, before we start, could you tells us a bit about yourselves?
Patrick: Gods, where do I even start? Okay, so basically I was this normal geeky guy who, let’s just say it, I had a slightly unhealthy infatuation with this girl. Who basically didn’t even know I existed. [what? You know it’s totally true.] But it all worked out in the end because I ran off on this trip to Vegas with her and we accidentally got married and… Wait that came out wrong… Um well… I think I’ll just stop talking now.

Haha. Okay, Patrick. I'll go back to you in a sec. What about you, Nualla? What can you tell us about yourself?
Nualla: Oh me, I’m totally not human. I may look human to you, but your eyes are lying to you. [What? Kat said she was cool. I mean we’re not exactly allowed to talk about what we are but it’s not like anyone outside this room will ever know, right?] So yeah, I’m a Kalodaemon. You’d be surprised how many of us there are, especially in The City. [Well obviously she knows I mean San Francisco when I say The City, Patrick. Where else would she think I meant?]
I can assure you my lips are sealed and your secret is safe! Now, I have to ask you Nualla…What was your first impression of Patrick?
Nualla: I thought he was insane, like totally frakkin’ insane. [Don’t give me that look Patrick, you came out of nowhere and yelled at Micheal, like you had a death wish or something.] But you probably meant when I actually stopped and looked at him, didn’t you Amy? Well… I’d have to say--totally yummy. And oh those eyes. I’ve always been kind of a sucker for dark eyes. [Yes Patrick, Travis does have dark eyes, and no we are not talking about that… ever.]
Oh, I totally agree with dark eyes. *looks at Patrick* Hmm Yes, dark eyes are quite nice. Err I mean, next question...Patrick, what is it that attracted you to Nualla?
Patrick: I… I don’t know exactly. The first time I saw her it was like well, like someone took a crossbow to my chest. I mean she’s freakin’ gorgeous and all, but well, I don’t know, I was just drawn to her. I really can’t explain it. There was something in me that just couldn’t seem to let her go.
Aww That is so sweet! But what about when you found out Nualla's secret? How shocked were you?
Patrick: Well I had started to suspect something was… different about her. I mean she gave herself away in a thousand different ways each day. [No Nualla, I’m sure it’s not obvious to anyone else, so chill.] I probably would have saved myself a slight heart attack if I had just waited for her to tell me but… it was probably best that I freaked out alone where no one could see me. [Yes I bet you would have loved to see that, but you did get to see me freak out about everything else, you know.]
I think Nualla was pretty surprised at your cool reaction when she told you. I suspect that is not always the case, right Nualla? What’s the best and worst thing about being a daemon?
Nualla: Best; Patrick says our accelerated healing is pretty awesome. Being that I’ve never been anything other than daemon I wouldn’t know.
Worst; you have to hide what you are all the time. Lie to everyone you will ever met. No one will ever know the real you, just the mask you have to wear every day. Basically you can kiss all that social media goodbye. You’re basically a ghost; just enough online to seem normal, nothing more. It sucks big time.
That sounds like a very lonely life. I'm so happy you found Patrick! Though that was one hell of an adventure you two had…If you could go back in time and change something, would you do it?
Nualla: I would have so not gotten on that bus.
Patrick: Oh come on Nualla, it wasn’t that bad.
Nualla: Look at me with a straight face and say that again. Yeah, I didn’t think so.
Patrick: I probably would have just told her the truth instead of waiting until it blow up in my face.
Communication is key, I always say! And I agree with Nualla, the bus was BAD. But let's not dwell on horrible times. Next up it’s the Favorites Round!
Favorite color?
Nualla: Blue
Patrick: Um… can I say them all?
Nikki: Say ‘whatever color Nualla’s eyes are.’ You know that’s what you really want to say.
