June 18 was the day I had to leave to attend the June residency of my MFA program at Seton Hill University. As THE day got closer I tried to think less and less about it, partly because a full day of travel sucks in itself, but mostly because I’ve never traveled alone. EVER. I had a serious case of the shivering-fear-tingles as I sat on my plane seat, but I mentally slapped myself and told my inner Amy to get her shit together. It was time to put on my big girl panties and act like grownup! All my heroic thought were replaced with R-rated day dreams when Mr. Tall-Buff-and-Gorgeous sat next to me. I could almost see a shinning badge above my head with the sign: Achievement Completed: Meet Handsome Stranger on Plane.

A week for School + A week for Vacations = LOA
| That's the university's bookstore ♥ |
Hello, everyone!
This is to inform you that for the next two weeks I won't be connected to Amy's Book Den and won't be able to reply to comments or messages. I will be attending my second writer's residency at Seton Hill University for my M.F.A. where I will be spending time with amazing authors and classmates, and just soaking up all the awesome that are the Unteachables! That's what my group calls itself LOL!
I'm so very excited for all the modules, critique workshops, and the book signing! Yes! There will be readings, books for purchase, expo from publishing houses, and refreshments, and it's open to everyone! Two of my fave authors of all time—Maria V. Snyder and NicolePeeler—will be there. They're mentors too, and I'll be taking some classes with them this residency! *squeal* I'll try not to fangirl too much and actually pay attention. Oh, you can find the full list of authors that will attend the book signing here.
The residency is only a week long, but I'm taking an extra week for vacationing purposes only. I'll be exploring Pittsburgh, hunting down museums and cool places and stuff. Though I just found out my first deadline after residency is July 25. Yikes! So I better figure out where to push in a few hours of writing in between!
Postings will go up normally everyday (except maybe a few). I've got 3 awesome reviews coming -- Insurgent by Veronica Roth, Until I Die by Amy Plum, and Dark Companion by Martha Acosta. I'll see ya all in two weeks! Hopefully with lots of photos and lots of crazy stories to tell :D

First Post
I literally just graduated last Sunday and got my BA in English Lit. and suddenly I find myself with "nothing" to do until I begin my MFA in January. Until then, I fear I will go slightly mad if this absence of 'real' work goes on for any long period of time. I'm the kind of person who needs something to do every single moment of the day or I feel as if I'm wasting time. So I've decided to open this blog and dedicate myself to write at least one post per day, not only to give me something to do but also to practice my writing and get the creative juices flowing. This at least should give me an hour of something each day, plus 8hrs for sleeping... now I wonder what I'll find to cover those other 15hrs.
