Seraphina by Rachel HartmanFour decades of peace have done little to ease the mistrust between humans and dragons in the kingdom of Goredd. Folding themselves into human shape, dragons attend court as ambassadors, and lend their rational, mathematical minds to universities as scholars and teachers. As the treaty's anniversary draws near, however, tensions are high.
Seraphina Dombegh has reason to fear both sides. An unusually gifted musician, she joins the court just as a member of the royal family is murdered—in suspiciously draconian fashion. Seraphina is drawn into the investigation, partnering with the captain of the Queen's Guard, the dangerously perceptive Prince Lucian Kiggs. While they begin to uncover hints of a sinister plot to destroy the peace, Seraphina struggles to protect her own secret, the secret behind her musical gift, one so terrible that its discovery could mean her very life.

Amy is Back! Adventures + Blog News
June 18 was the day I had to leave to attend the June residency of my MFA program at Seton Hill University. As THE day got closer I tried to think less and less about it, partly because a full day of travel sucks in itself, but mostly because I’ve never traveled alone. EVER. I had a serious case of the shivering-fear-tingles as I sat on my plane seat, but I mentally slapped myself and told my inner Amy to get her shit together. It was time to put on my big girl panties and act like grownup! All my heroic thought were replaced with R-rated day dreams when Mr. Tall-Buff-and-Gorgeous sat next to me. I could almost see a shinning badge above my head with the sign: Achievement Completed: Meet Handsome Stranger on Plane.
